Awards and Literature:

~ We recommend performing 1-2 pieces appropriate for the time of year in which your festival falls, but there are no set performance requirements. Beginning Bands can also perform exercises from method books. It’s totally up to you!

~ Ratings are 3 (Good), 2 (Excellent) and 1 (Superior) with pluses and minuses given at the judge’s discretion.

~ Performance Classes are Beginner, Sub Non-Varsity, Non-Varsity, Varsity, and Specialty Ensembles (Jazz Bands, Percussion, etc.). 

~ “Best in Class” is awarded to outstanding ensembles in the December, April, and May Festivals, provided there are at least 3 ensembles in your class.

Other information to make your day at the park seamless

  • Park and attractions are open every day at 10:00 am. Mondays, the park closes at 6pm. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the park closes at 4pm. Thursdays, the park closes at 8pm. Fridays, the park closes at 9pm. You can come and go as you like!
  • Performance times start at 9:00 am.
  • Check-in will be indoors near the souvenir shop’s front entrance to the right. Directors only, please.
  • Have an exact count of students, chaperones, school employees, and catered meals ready when you arrive – your bill will be based on those numbers. 
  • Be ready to turn in your required waivers for everyone attending, including chaperones. Waivers can be found here.
  • After check-in, take your students inside the park. You can store your instrument in one of three places of your choosing: On your bus or trailer, in your cabana at the park, or in the outdoor corral in the front of the park (weather permitting – for security purposes, a chaperone should stay with the instruments if they are being left in the corral).
  • 30 minutes before warm-up, meet your students to dry off, throw on your band t-shirt and shorts, and be ready to start their warm-up, performance, and clinic – all in the performance venue. 
  • All Bands perform in the theatre next to the waterpark. We’ll meet your ensemble to escort them to the venue.
  • Bands operate on a 30-minute schedule, which includes set-up, a brief warm-up, performance, and a motivating, positive clinic.
  • Once you have performed – it’s back to the attractions!
